Richard Torres
Owner of Empire Auto Group
Richard Torres is a former resident of Somerset, MA who presently resides in Swansea, MA and is the Dealer Principal for the Empire Auto Group. Richard graduated from Somerset High school in 1983 and began his automotive career in Fall River, MA that year at Barboza Auto World, where he was a Sales Associate for 3 years. Richard quickly advanced to Sales & Finance Manager and onto General Sales Manager. While at Barboza Ford, he was recognized by Ford Motor Company and was part of the Ford Master's Program. The Ford Master's Program is awarded to management who are top producers in the country and have above average customer satisfaction scores.
In 2001 Richard became President at Empire Hyundai of Fall River and purchased the business in 2005. He later purchased the Empire Pre-Owned Super Store in Swansea, MA. In 2018 Richard purchased Ashley Ford in New Bedford, changing the name to Empire Ford of New Bedford and most recently purchased the former First Ford in Fall River, renaming it to Empire Ford of Fall River. Richard Torres is now the proud owner of four dealerships which comprises the Empire Auto Group, serving the communities in all of the SouthCoast as well as Providence, Newport, Cape Cod and the Islands.
Richard works full time and is very instrumental in the day-to-day operations at all four stores, along with his two sons: Tyler Torres, GM of Empire Ford of Fall River and Empire Ford of New Bedford and Trevor Torres, GM of Empire Hyundai and Empire Pre-Owned Super Store. His greatest accomplishments and pride are his family and business and being able to continue to support the many organizations in our community.

Richard believes in a strong community involvement and has been a donor to many worthwhile organizations including: the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Special Olympics, The Jimmy Fund, Dana Farber, Hope on Wheels, Fall River Marine Museum, Fall River and New Bedford Public Schools, Saint Vincent's Home, The Fall River and New Bedford Police Departments, The New Bedford Fire Department, Citizens for Citizens, Fall River Falcons, Fall River Christmas Parade, Pop Warner Football, other local youth baseball and soccer organizations, the American Red Cross, local pet shelters, Empire Auto Group is also one of the main sponsors of the Great Feast of the Holy Ghost, the Day of Portugal Fall River & also the Madeira Feast of the Blessed Sacrament in New Bedford, MA.
Here at Empire Auto Group, we believe strongly in supporting our military and for that reason, we work closely with the Fort Taber - Fort Rodman Military Museum to honor deceased veterans in our area. Each month a flag is flown in honor of a local veteran at the museum. We are also donors for other local veteran agencies including the Veteran's Transition House located in New Bedford, MA.
